My one and only fan has recently suffered the loss of a loved one, for which I would like to extend my deepest sympathy.

Losing a pet is, to some, akin to losing a family member. In today's culture, we often elevate our pets to some kind of royalty status, heeding to their every whim and fancy. And we love them for giving us the opportunity to feed them, pick up after them, walk them, pay for their vet bills, etc. in exchange for a nuzzle or a sloppy kiss. Yes, they are just like children, only furrier.
